Looking forward…

Welcome to the blog of Katie Carr, short story writer and now aspiring novelist! Like so many other people out there, I’ve been making up stories and sharing them with the world since I first put crayon to paper, but now I’m past my half-century (and probably almost past my sell-by date) I’ve decided I have to get a bit more organised and a lot more proactive if I’m going to make some of my more ambitious dreams come true.

So – why Flying Kipper? It was my Dad’s nickname for me, many years ago.  In the much-loved railway stories of the Rev. Awdry, the Flying Kipper was the train which carried fish from Scotland to Billingsgate Market, and once upon a time, dear reader, I rushed around the world at relentless speed. In the years since then, there seem to have been rather too many leaves on the line, and my journey has often slowed to a crawl. Time to pick up the pace again, now.

As we head into 2011, I’m going to be using this blog to record my efforts. I’ll share some of my ‘work in progress’ and the highs and lows of success and failure (which, I have to keep reminding myself, is only the mark that shows I tried…)
